Battleblog

I haven’t written for myself in ages. It’s a strange thing trying to put your mind on paper - or the internet - when you haven’t in so long… I’ve been ghostly, fleeing the forums when I moved to ohio, first because I didn’t have a computer to use, then because I used my computer less, and focused more on my work and my wonderful girlfriend Ally.

I used to work for Dell. I put a lot into that job. I sold my heart out… I loved the product, I knew exactly how to present it best, I made good money and impressed my coworkers and superiors. I had been working contract through a temp agency and thought for sure I would be hired… but then they laid us all off. So I worked a labor job for a bit, grew a handlebar mustache and got a new apartment, well it wasn’t exactly in that order, but it all happened around the same time.

Now I sell appliances for a company called hhgregg. They incorporated last year, but have been around for 50 years. I work straight comission now, so I put more time and effort into my job now than I ever have. It’s a different beast, I’m not completely in love with refrigerators like I am computers, It’s not as easy to sell, and the environment is different as well, and the economies don’t translate. I’ve spent the last five months trying to adjust and I think I’ve gotten there. But I’m starting to get restless, like when something seems wrong but you can’t see what it is. There’s something missing and it seems like mike has had the same problem. So we’ve put some work into the site.

He and Jeff have done all the design this time around, it looks fabulous. The background is amazing I must say. It’s derivative of one I had found that someone had made and I used on my previous personal blog, “The Bee’s Knees.” Seriously, I have fallen way behind either of them in ability. I’m stuck in 2006’s dhtml and they’re all like in the web 2.0 or whatever you call it stuff. I’ll happily leave it to them.

So now that I have a place to post stuff, what will I be posting about? I guess you’ll have to wait and see really. I could write about appliances or how much I love foobar2000 or stuff I find through stumbleupon. It could be anything. It’s a good feeling. I just have to muster up all the creativity I’ve been using to sell service plans to people.
