In concerns of the Xbox 360, I have never had much to complain. I like the dashboard. It has more games than most consoles, yet doesn’t feel bloated with crap like the PS2 or PSOne did. And over the course of many E3’s they’ve revealed things of epic proportions. This year was no different, I’ll just go down Joystiq and wax opinonated:
- Galaga Legions - Sincerely, I will buy this game the hour it comes out. In the spirit of Pac-Man Championship Edition and Space Invaders Extreme, they’ve set out to make a true sequel, that retains the charm of the original and adds more modern features and gameplay depth than you can poke a stick at.
- Final Fantasy XIII - This is insane , Square has been with Sony for over a decade now, and now they’re going multiplatform?! This may herald the end of the Playstation 3, but hopefully it will hearld the end of crappy final fantasy sequelitis, when they saturate the market with it and all the FFXIII spinoffs they have planned. In truth it could be an awesome game and I’m glad I will get to play it on a console I own.
- Ghostbusters - Why is this being made into a game? And why does it look so awesome?
- Portal: Still Alive - Very little was said about it, and of course it isn’t called Portal 2, so it’s worth wondering what the hell is going on there? A continuation of the story? Downloable content for the Orange Box? Who Knows.
- Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2 - I’m excited, but will any of my friends be able to keep up with me? furthermore does… Old Game + Light Bloom + Multiplayer + More enemy Patterns + More Weapons Patterns = Awesome?
- Rage - John Carmack, making another one word title game that looks pretty much like Quake 3 anyways.
- The New Xbox Experience - I have something to say about this:
This new dashboard thing, while it does look more like Windows Media Center 7 to evoke a certain brand harmony, it also confuses me with these new Avatars. I’m not sure I want a Mii on my 360. The new netflix functionality is epic. I’ll be certainly joining netflix as soon as it comes out, so that I can watch no-extra-charge on-demand movies. Ally and I rent movies weekly from Redbox for a dollar. But if we can download and watch movies without me having to go on a torrent site and sift through every crap format possible to find one that will work on the 360, or schlep down to the grocery store to hit up the redbox, then I’m for it The Avatars though… I guess you can keep the old blades if you want. And it is pretty unreal that their simultaneously stealing from Nintendo and beating Sony to the Game…. I’m just floored. Well I guess that’s all I had to say about it. haha. Oh and if you’re feeling bored and need some Metal to quench your thirst for violent guitar, go buy The Sword’s new album “Gods of the Eath,” here’s a video from their new album:
