The Dark Knight

By the time this review hits the site the majority of you will already have seen The Dark Knight and I’ll be preaching to the choir. So lets treat this more as a recommendation to all of you that have yet to see it or are still on the ropes about catching the 2nd of the new generation of Batman films.

The Dark Knight has succeeded where no other Super hero/Comic book movie has, and that with making the characters and its story feel real. Once you’re into the movie you don’t ever think “wow this could never happen in real life” which gives everything about the film so much more power.

Action sequences are stunning while keeping the air of realism, nothing is ever too over the top. The drama elements of the film are often heart wrenching or ethically troublesome to both the viewers and characters. While watching I slowly began to realize what a loss Heath Ledger to acting is, in The Dark Knight you will witness most certainly the best acting of his career. Ledger as the Joker is the most chilling representation of the character to have ever been done.

Its hard to not ramble about this movie but I really am so pleased with how it turned out. I guess I could complain that it could have skipped the last 45 minutes and still been amazing or that Christian Bale’s “Batman Voice” can be hard to understand at times. But in the big grand picture of this movie its very easy to look over minor flaws such as these.

Go check out The Dark Knight, even if you’re not a comic book fan or if you haven’t seen Batman Begins you can still find plenty to appreciate in this movie.

Was there anything after the credits?

I also noticed Christian Bale’s batman voice in parts. But seriously, It wove this central theme, exposed it subtley, tied it up at the end without copping out. i didn’t really doubt it would work as well as the first one did. One thing I thought was really awesome was the set design and art direction. It was one of the best Gotham Cities I could imagine. And really when anyone makes a film that’s based off some other property, meeting and exceeding poeple’s expectations and ideas in line with the original material is a triumph.

I dont believe there was, I checked the internet and saw nothing indicating a easter egg ending. I’ve seen the movie as well but was a bad geek and didnt wait for the credits to roll out.

Opie and Anthony were making fun of batmans voice this morning. they called it one of the most terrible batman voices. I understand what they were going for, but that grating voice might only work in cartoons…
