Comics

The idea of a Hack Slash Suicide girls collaboration is very awesome, on their own both entities have their library of things that are awesome. Many of these aspects overlap quite a bit, a collaboration should have been quite simple, elegant, and well executed. Unfortunately besides the art there isn’t much going on in respects to execution or elegance and as far as simplicity goes they relied on it a bit too much.

In the past I’ve found the style and ideas behind the line of Hack Slash comics to be both entertaining and well done. This appreciation can also be applied to Suicide Girls and the way they operate and present themselves. Mashed together I found myself reading a comic with a laughable plot (not in a good way) and some of the worst dialog I’ve read in awhile. The art on the hand was done quite well and in a style that kept true to Hack Slash as well as capturing the true essence of Suicide Girls.

Without totally ruining the story here’s how it goes, your cookie cutter hyper enlightened blogger starts to get real preachy and thinks he’s going to start the “cyberlution” . One thing leads to another, he dies and becomes and internet ghost that has binary for eyeballs and possesses anyone that looks at his emoticon. When possessed instead of laughing people say “lol” and sometimes just say “100101010101″. This guy was supposed to be running the most popular and influential blog on the internet, anyone that uses killer emoticons or lol is probably 13 and posting on myspace. Everything referring to the internet seemed cheesy and laughable “Quick we need to shut of the internet to trap him!”.

I really wish they had taken the time to really give this one shot a solid story as opposed to feeling like a poorly put together suicide girls advertisement. If you’re just looking for some pretty sweet looking comic book style drawings of suicide girls then this may be worth your time. Otherwise I’d steer clear of this one unfortunately.
