The new mini figure set from Kid Robot this August will be the Simpsons. Visually these little guys are spot on and would probably look great on your desk or other figure friendly area. But what is up with the price on these guys, eight dollars for one 3 inch figure is a bit much. This is Kid Robot assuming you’ll drop at an absolute minimum of around $200 if you’re the luckiest blind box purchaser in the world.

Its unfortunate to see the price of mini series rising as they gain popularity, and do we really need a Simpsons series? What about Dunny and Munny the staples of Kid Robot? A few months ago we got the adult swim series followed by this. Designer vinyl is becoming a bit too big for its britches if you ask me. But then I go to stores and see boxes full of these new sets and empty boxes of the classics (dunny munny) am I missing something?

Maybe I’m just trying to cling to an old ideal where designer vinyl had an underground appeal. Time for me to realize that Kid Robot has become successful enough to license these high profile projects. I’d just much rather be spending my money on a new Dunny series or other unique series. The Simpsons mini series is also likely to become the most popular release so far, we’ll have the Vinyl Collectors as well as the Simpsons fan boys all over these. Here’s to hoping next month’s releases are a bit better.
