I’ve always been a fan of building something from the ground up and watching it grow. The startup scene is a great one to be a part of as it’s always changing and growing. Two of my favourite startups have always been Lijit and Intense Debate, to the pont where whenever I am working on a new blog or with a client I always reccomend these two addons for their blog.
For starters Lijit just rocks. They always have. Me being able to pull in my network to expand search results on my blog is great. I love it. And on top of that they launched a new look for their site today. Which bumps them up into the smexy side of things. Lijit is what we use here for our search results. I don’t think we’d ever go back to the normal WordPress search results as the results for this site. It only serves to make Battlemouth’s reach even greater over the course of time.
Intense Debate powers our comments and I’m pretty sure Mike & I would not have it any other way to be totally honest. It allows people to reply to others in a threaded fashion, supports nice avatars, works nicely with our CSS and adapts itself to it. How much more could you ask for?
The reason I’m writing this post is not to tell you what these two companies’ products do. It’s to let you know that they have both blown myself (and Mike, too) away over the course of this week. Since moving to our new design we had an issue with Intense Debate not playing nicely with our theme and the comments were overlapping areas and making things look ugly. One simple email later and the Intense Debate team was on the job getting things to look great for us. You might have noticed we have a new sexy search box up in the top right. Well Mike and I were concerned with having to replace it with the Lijit search Wijit. It’s not that we don’t think it’s a good Wijit we just don’t think it fits the site properly. Again, one email later and Tara from Lijit is all over the problem for us like flies on shit (the only phrase I could think of).
We love this type of customer service. It’s amazing and we feel that more startups and companies should follow their lead. These two companies are now so ingrained in Battlemouth I’m quite sure we’d do anything for them at this point. Are they paying us to write this? No. And they would never have to either. I’d be more than happy to write about any company that treated us as good as they are. So, thanks go out to the good folks at both these companies. We appreciate everything you’ve done for us thus far!
