Email Ninjas
I have my gripes. We all do. I just choose to make mine public and whether you like it or not I’m sharing it with you. I get more than a few emails a day from people asking me to check out their new website, service, etc. I start off honoured with the fact that someone wants me to give them my thoughts about what they are building. I am always stoked to find other creative individuals trying to make their dreams of success come true. It’s inspiring and humbling.
However, if you’re going to ask me to let you know what I think please don’t send an email and disappear like a ninja. One such email I received the other day was like this.
“Hey Jeff! Do you mind checking out (my service here) and giving me your feedback? Thanks!”
The person wasn’t very specific with they wanted me to check out. As theirs is a web based service I was left asking myself “do I give feedback on the site, the service or both?” I decided to send an email to the person and have been waiting for a response for a day and a half. I understand that it’s the weekend but quite frankly if you’re running a startup you ought to be checking email daily. Yes, even on the weekends. Shit half of us have cellphones we check our email on.
Bottom line is if you’re going to ask me to give you my feedback on something please make sure you answer my emails in a timely manner or you’re already starting off on the wrong foot.
