Battlemouth

Songs get stuck in my head often, sometimes I appreciate the cranial adhesive these songs possess. Sometimes I curse them and their damn catchy poison they infect me with. When I get songs stuck that I’m not trying to scrape out with a pick axe I’ll share them here for you to get stuck in your head.

American Boy by Estelle is today’s lucky winner. This track features Kanye West and is damn catchy. Anyone that knows me is well aware I’m usually more about metal and music to break things to. But this track has a certain charm to it, the beat is fresh and has an almost house/techno beat to it. There is a certain Basement Jaxx ambiance to this song, maybe more like Basement Jaxx lite. Kanye’s raps are some of the better he has laid down in awhile and just the whole feel of the song works. Heck any song that hypes up how awesome the American male is gets points with me. Estelle and her voice are welcome additions to the music scene as a whole, hopefully she keeps cranking out tracks like these.
