Josh Howard is one of the fat cats sitting on top of Viper Comics hill of creators. His latest series, “The Lost Books of Eve”, has come out with its volume one trade paperback. This is a highly anticipated release for all Josh Howard fans, so let me start off by saying that I am not a Josh Howard fan.
I shrugged off “Dead @ 17″ without a second thought. I decided to give “Eve” a try, I mean, if all the sheep are bleating there has to be something there. I have to say that I was surprised. Now I do not know if this is because I was not expecting too much, but I think its safe to say that this is a solid graphic novel.
The art is very “Josh Howard” with his typical super thin anime-esc girls and super brawny guys. This is not to say that there is anything wrong with that. It works for him and it works for his fans.
I was skeptical about a story on Adam and Eve, but Howard delivered on this part more than any other. There were plenty of plot twists to keep me turning the pages. I could not put it down until I finished the damn thing, and that says a lot considering my attention span is equivalent to that of an otaku off their Ridalin. The characters are not corny and are developed quite well. This story is filled with enough action to keep manga buffs happy, but is given enough plot development and depth to appease the hardcore western comic fans.
I’ll have to recommend this read. You will enjoy it as much as I did and if you are a Howard fan you will probably wet yourself over it. This volume actual makes me interestedin more of Howard’s works and changing my mind is quite the task.
