FullMetal Alchemist movie goes Blu

With an upcoming release from FUNimation, the disc contains a trailer for the FMA movie on Blu-ray. This was previously rumored, but is now confirmed. This title was previously announced for a release in Japan, but one would need to order a ridiculous box set to get it. I say ridiculous because it comes with the tv series, the OVAs, and the movie on DVD (Yes, it seems that you get the movie on DVD and Blu-ray). The Japanese box set also comes with 7 CDs, ads, artwork, booklets, etc. So if you lived in Japan and wanted to own the movie on Blu-ray, at the moment you would have to buy this set which consists of everything you would already own (and I say that because if you liked the movie that much, chances are you are a big FMA fan and already own all this). It would only run you about $600. In other words, FUNimation is saving them a good amount of cash since the U.S. and Japan are the same region when it comes to Blu-ray.  I wonder if a way FUNi will get people to buy the movie again is if the put the OVA shorts on their Blu-ray release… (just speculating).

We can also speculate that with the new series coming out, FUNi will probably be the ones to acquire the license.  If that happens, which I am sure it will, this new should open doors for a Blu-ray release of that as well.  No word on how the new series is being produced, but even if for some unexplained reason it is not produced in HD… did something like that stop FUNi from releasing DBZ on Blu-ray?
