HBO’s popular series Entourage recently kicked off it’s 5th season, and it’s better than ever. I’d like to start this off by stating a fact: Jeremy Piven is the funniest man on television, period. Piven has taken his roll as Hollywood super-agent “Ari Gold” to a level that hasn’t been seen in a quite sometime. He’s won three straight Emmy’s for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series, and been nominated for four Golden Globes in the past five years, so its safe to say some other people agree with me on this point. But nonetheless, he is surrounded by an all-star cast, many of who weren’t too big in the acting community until this show. Vinny Chase (Adrian Grenier), the show’s main character, plays a movie-star who’s careless attitude and lifestyle is contagious. And what makes this better? He is out in LA with his 3 best friends; his manager/best friend Eric “E” Murphy (Kevin Connolly), washed up actor and brother Johnny Drama (Kevin Dillon) who is my personal favorite, and his wingman Turtle (Jerry Ferrara), who is usually down for anything.
So what is it about the show that makes Entourage so damn popular? I think the number one thing that attracts viewers to this show is the lifestyle that the four boys from Queens live. They are living it up in sunny Southern California, driving the nicest cars, banging the hottest girls, spending ridiculous amounts of money (it get’s pretty unrealistic at times), and not giving a shit about anything that seems bothersome to them at all. Any person in the world would love to live this way, and watching it gives the viewers a small glimpse into the lifestyle of Hollywood super stardom. Add that to the fact that its filmed, directed, and acted to perfection, and you have yourself a hit. If you don’t watch this show, I highly suggest you start to. Its on HBO every sunday at 10:30 PM. It will be hard to understand at first, but you can most of the previous episodes the internet. It’s not totally necessary, but it will give you a much deeper understanding to what is going on. And I promise once you start watching, you won’t be able to stop.
