I walked into the Apple Store this Wednesday with $200 dollars and high hopes, and I left with a huge smile on my face. While shopping around, I realized that the Apple Store is the coolest place in the world. Well, not the world, but definitely the mall. There’s something about it, you can just tell employees love coming to work every day, and thats very rare. Bravo to Steve Jobs. But this is not a review of the store; it’s a review on the new iPod Nano. I picked up the 16 GB since I have tons of music on my mac, but you can get an 8 GB for $149 if you have less. The feel of the new Nano in your hands is the first plus. It’s about 3 ½ inch tall, and the curved-steel frame gives fits perfectly in your hand. The screen is crystal clear and is relatively large for the size of the iPod. It has all the normal iPod functions with some awesome new features. The absolute coolest feature is how you shuffle songs. Simply shake the iPod in your hand and it will change your song. Call me childish, but I could do it for days and be perfectly entertained. The new Nano also has the cover flow feature, and all you have to do to access it is turn your iPod sideways. You can also buy some awesome games for it in the iTunes store which is cool. The new Genius feature is a little strange; it picks your playlists for you, and sometimes doesn’t do a very good job, but it’s a great concept. And did I mention it comes in 9 flavorful new colors?? Great for people looking to express themselves, but I am not one of those people so I got a grey one. Overall, it’s an awesome new product that is definitely worth picking up if you’re in the market for a new iPod, and I can’t wait to see what Apple is going to come out with next.
