The Tokyo Game Show is shelling out story after story…partly due to its well placed show dates just before the holiday season. I figured I would compile some of the highlights thus far in my TGS MEGA-UPDATE.
Nintendo’s big announcement concerning the Wii price drop! Anyone paying attention to the video game-sphere lately was expecting this after Sony and Microsoft announced their sizable price drops for the Playstation 3 and Xbox360, just last week . Nintendo representatives announced today that on September 27 (yes, just right around the corner!) the Wii will drop from 250$ to 200$. Rumors have been flying about a re-release of the coveted Black Wii in the United States for the looming holiday season in addition to a couple additional colors! As if the Wii needed to be harder for parents to find this Christmas…

Next in the console department is a hefty list of developers working on content for Microsoft Xbox’s. E3 announced, Project Natal. The list includes some of the industries biggest names:
MTV Games
Bethesda
Ubisoft
Capcom
Disney Interactive
Activision Blizzard
Electronic Arts
Namco Bandai
Konami
Square Enix
Sega
THQ
My first thought when reading this list…if these companies know what it will take for a game to work on Natal, does that mean Microsoft is a lot closer to a release date than we all thought? My second thought…Fallout 4 Natal?
Alienware computers released (to the sounds of far too much hype) a few new models that will blow any computer gamers pants off- the M15x (Core i7 processor, the M15x also offers a 1GB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260M GPU* and up to 8GB DDR3 1333MHz memory*) laptop alone will make your erection last longer than any pill, and the Area-51 and Area-51ALX (Intel Core i7 processors factory overclocked* to an intense 3.86GHz for peak performance. Dual NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 295 graphics cards. Other featured specs include up to 12GB DDR3* memory clocked at 1333MHz or 1600MHz, respectively, and six cable-free hard drive bays that support both 7,200RPM and 10,000RPM drives, solid state drives and RAID 0, RAID 1 and RAID 10 configurations) are SURE will give you a nice image to relieve the above mentioned problem. It seems to me that if PC companies fought back the Mac onslaught with these fellows leading the way…they might have more of a chance. Granted anyone that games on their computer seriously probablly makes their own rig…this is a nice way to attract the no nothing consumer and hardcore gamer alike.

There has also been considerable buzz surrounding a memo that was snagged (legally of course) off of Sega’s FTP that could make a lot of Playstation 3 owners very happy. With the release of the PS3 Slim and the coinciding discovery that the system will no longer be backwards compatible this most recent devolpment (RUMOR) could change everything. Evidently there is talk of a new area of the Playstation Network that will SELL PS2 games for download…this of course could change a lot. My lack of remorse for selling my PS3 for example.
Of course the Tokyo Game Show is mostly about…obviously…games!
Enjoy some screenshots!
