It has come to my attention that several of you are not as obsessed with comic books as I am!….So it is with that in mind that I have decided to start a new series, for the casual reader, if you will. There are plenty of websites out there that will give you list after list of all the titles coming out on the nearest Wednesday, but anyone can pull that together, right? Instead I will give you a, hopefully, more personalized idea of some books that are coming out. Obviously it is difficult to just jump into many of the ongoing series that are out there so I will try to focus on books with jumping on points, or to at least give you an idea of what has been going on and whether or not it is worth your time (and money) to catch up! I hope you find this new series informative and helpful as you make your way to the comic book shop on Wednesday…maybe it might even convince some of you that you should be making that trip in the first place! Look for new ups on Monday nights!
The Casual Readers Pull List:

Ultimate Comics Armor Wars #2
Marvel
WRITER: Warren Ellis
PENCILS: Steve Kurth
INKS: Jeffrey Huet
COLORED BY: Guru-eFX
LETTERED BY: VC – Joe Sabino
My Thoughts:
Warren Ellis is kind of like the Axel Rose of the comic book industry. Only I actually like Warren Ellis. Armor Wars is only on issue #2 and I can assure you this is going to be a mini-arc that you do not want to miss. Starks cocky attitude and and Warren Ellis dialogue are practically meant to be together.
The Official Blurb:
IRON MAN CRASHES EUROPE!
Tony Stark’s frantic pursuit of his stolen Stark tech across the Atlantic gets ugly as the secrets (and bodies?!) start piling up! The world of industrial espionage gets a repulsor blast to the face as Stark squares off with a villain unlike anything he’s faced before! Don’t miss this next pulse-pounding installment from the high-tech team-up of Warren Ellis (ULTIMATE HUMAN) and Steve Kurth (IRON MAN)!

Swordsmith Assassin #3
Boom! Studios
By: Andrew Cosby, Michael Nelson, Ayhan Hayrula, Dennis Calero, John Nofsinger
*The release date of this item has yet to be confirmed. Please check with your retailer for availability.*
My Thoughts:
This is another of Boom!’s finer titles. With only three issues out so far it is a good one to jump on board with and certainly worth your money. Who doesn’t like a samurai out for revenge?
The Official Blurb:
Toshiro Ono has spent his life making the best swords that have ever been forged and selling them to the highest bidder. But when his family is killed by a blade of his own making, Toshiro will do whatever it takes to make sure none of his swords ever kill again, even if it means seducing the innocent! Covers by Dennis Calero and John Nofsinger.

Stumptown #1
Oni
By: Greg Rucka, Matthew Southworth
My Thoughts:
Greg Rucka is a badass. A man that has become synonymous with the comic book industry. This new series promises to be a quality story.
The Official Blurb:
Superstar writer Greg Rucka (WHITEOUT, DETECTIVE COMICS) embarks on his first creator-owned series since the Eisner Award-winning QUEEN & COUNTRY! Dex is the proprietor of Stumptown Investigations, and a fairly talented P.I. Unfortunately, she’s less adept at throwing dice than solving cases. Her recent streak has left her beyond broke-she’s into the Confederated Tribes of the Wind Coast for 18 large. But maybe Dex’s luck is about to change. Sue-Lynne, head of the Wind Coast’s casino operation, will clear Dex’ debt if she can locate Sue-Lynne’s missing granddaughter. But is this job Dex’s way out of the hole or a shove down one much much deeper?

Cowboy Ninja Viking
IMAGE COMICS
Writer: AJ LIEBERMAN
Artist (and cover): RILEY ROSSMO
My Thoughts:
I have read this already….it is EXCELLENT.
This will be the book everyone is talking about come Wednesday. Incredible Art and a hilarious and enthralling story. If you only buy one book this week…buy this one.
The Official Blurb:
It started with Dr. Sebastian Ghislain: rogue psychotherapist/covert op/DJ. Tasked with creating a counter-intelligence unit, he turned to those long thought useless to society…patients with Multiple Personality Disorder. These agents became known simply as Triplets. Misguided? Yeah. Impractical? Sure. But did it work? Absolutely not. Now someone has located each Triplet and created a band of ridiculously disturbed, but highly effective assassins. Our only hope? A Triplet known as Cowboy Ninja Viking!
PRICE: 3.50
Your total for this week =15.47+ tax
Not a huge week for comics! With a little extra pocket cash perhaps you would be interested in picking up a “Trade Paper Back: (TPB) to read? Trade Paper Backs are compilations of previously released single issues that form an arc or sometimes an entire story line! Some folks would argue these are actually “Graphic Novels”…I always felt as the difference was that Trade Paper Backs were compilations of previously released single issues, while Graphic Novels were stand-alone stories never released in single issue form…of course, there are always exceptions to that rule…so who really knows? This week I will begin to also include a “TPB of the Week” in our Poor Mans Pull list.
Trade of the Week!

Five Fists of Science (New Printing)
Image Comics
story MATT FRACTION
art & cover STEVEN SANDERS
My Thoughts:
I missed this the first time around and have been hoping for a reprint. Being a fan of SciFi as well as History I was immediately intrigued upon stumbling upon this title. Toss “Written by Matt Fraction” on the cover, and I am sold!
BACK IN PRINT!
The Official Blurb:
True story: In 1899, Mark Twain and Nikola Tesla decided to end war forever. With Twain’s connections and Tesla’s inventions, they went into business, selling world peace.
So what happened?
Only now can the tale be told – in which Twain and Tesla collided with Edison and Morgan, an evil science cabal merging the Black Arts and the Industrial Age. Turn of the century New York City sets the stage for a titanic battle over the very fate of the mankind.
