It has come to my attention that several of you are not as obsessed with comic books as I am!….So it is with that in mind that I have decided to start a new series, for the casual reader, if you will. There are plenty of websites out there that will give you list after list of all the titles coming out on the nearest Wednesday, but anyone can pull that together, right? Instead I will give you a, hopefully, more personalized idea of some books that are coming out. Obviously it is difficult to just jump into many of the ongoing series that are out there so I will try to focus on books with jumping on points, or to at least give you an idea of what has been going on and whether or not it is worth your time (and money) to catch up! I hope you find this new series informative and helpful as you make your way to the comic book shop on Wednesday…maybe it might even convince some of you that you should be making that trip in the first place! Look for new ups on Monday nights!
THE LIST

My Thoughts:
This is quite possibly my favorite comic book out there. Garth Ennis is certainly my favorite author. At this intro price of 1$….well I will smack you if you don’t go buy it and at least try it out.
The Official Blurb:
Dynamite Entertainment never actually had the honor of publishing issue #1 of the Boys (we started with #7), but now we’re going to do it! But, we’re not just reprinting issue #1, we’re doing it and charging just $1.00 for it! See where it all began, for a buck!
Price= 1.00$ + tax

(Didn’t make it out last week, get it this week!)
Ultimate Comics Armor Wars #2
Marvel
WRITER: Warren Ellis
PENCILS: Steve Kurth
INKS: Jeffrey Huet
COLORED BY: Guru-eFX
LETTERED BY: VC – Joe Sabino
My Thoughts:
Warren Ellis is kind of like the Axel Rose of the comic book industry. Only I actually like Warren Ellis. Armor Wars is only on issue #2 and I can assure you this is going to be a mini-arc that you do not want to miss. Starks cocky attitude and and Warren Ellis dialogue are practically meant to be together.
The Official Blurb:
IRON MAN CRASHES EUROPE!
Tony Stark’s frantic pursuit of his stolen Stark tech across the Atlantic gets ugly as the secrets (and bodies?!) start piling up! The world of industrial espionage gets a repulsor blast to the face as Stark squares off with a villain unlike anything he’s faced before! Don’t miss this next pulse-pounding installment from the high-tech team-up of Warren Ellis (ULTIMATE HUMAN) and Steve Kurth (IRON MAN)!
Price: 3.99$ + tax

PILOT SEASON: DECLASSIFIED
TOP COW
By: Robert Kirkman, Marc Silvestri
My Thoughts:
For those un-aware…Top Cow’s “Pilot Season” is similar to the pilot season that happens on many television networks. Essentially several different shows, or in this case first issues, are released to the general public and ratings are measured. Top Cow, however, isn’t using “ratings” per se…they are going to use your votes. Robert Kirkman is writing 5 stories for this Pilot Season, at the end of which we (the readers) will help choose what carries on and what gets put in the burn pile. So “Declassified” is certainly worth looking at!
The Official Blurb:
From the creative minds of Image partners Robert Kirkman & Marc Silvestri! The most exciting year of Pilot Season begins next month, but thanks to an inside source at Top Cow HQ, fans can find out the secrets behind the inception of the five new properties from Kirkman and Silvestri! Pilot Season: Declassified is filled with top secret design sketches and documents, along with trailer pages from the five properties. And the best part is the fans will determine the winning property!
Price= 1.00$ + tax

FVZA #1
RADICAL COMICS
Words: David Hine, Roy Allan Martinez,
Pictures: John Bolton
My Thoughts:
Ok seriously, this looks to be mega cheasy…however….it is Halloween so consider this a special attempt to be festive. Of course, I have also been on a quest to find a good Radical Comics series to read and since Hercules burned my eyeballs and melted part of my brain….well….lets try again shall we?
The Official Blurb:
In a world where a deadly disease transforms innocent victims into Zombies and Vampires, only one government task force is tough enough for the job: The Federal Vampire and Zombie Agency. Throughout history, from the Civil War to World War II, the FVZA protected humanity from the blood-sucking, flesh-eating hordes – until a cure was discovered that sent the undead to their graves. When a new incurable strain of the virus ravages a small town in America, Agent Landra Pecos must call upon her lethal skills to eradicate the threat. But as Landra delves deeper into her investigation of the undead menace, she uncovers shocking secrets that will change her life forever. Based on the popular website FVZA.org and written by comics superstar David Hine (Civil War: X-Men, Spider-Man Noir, Arkham Asylum). Featuring covers by John Bolton and Clint Langley.
Price= 4.99$ + tax
TPB of the WEEK!
Just because it’s Halloween…I think we should all pick up and read…
Pinocchio: Vampire Slayer

Words: Van Jensen
Words and Art: Dustin Higgins
My Thoughts:
It is worth the money just to have this on my shelf. Too cool, really it is a pretty killer idea if you think about it!
The Official Blurb:
After seeing Geppetto die at the hands of vampires, Pinocchio swears revenge in this darkly funny graphic novel. As the vampires plot the enslavement of mankind, only a one-puppet army stands in their way. But will a wooden boy and his endless supply of stakes, courtesy of plenty of lies and his elongating nose, be enough to save the day? Filled with tongue-in-cheek dark humor, fans of Nightmares & Fairy Tales will swoon to this twisted take on the tale of Pinocchio.
Price= 10.95$ + tax
Total price for the week= 21.93$ + tax
(Remember, lots of shops will give you a discount if you sign up for a pull list with your favorite books!)
