These days it seems like almost every day we hear tale of a new comic book or graphic novel being adapted to fit the big screen…today is no exception.
Variety.com reports:
Newly minted banner Vigilante Entertainment is launching operations by developing Warren Ellis’ comicbook series “Black Summer” with Ryne Pearson (“Knowing”) tapped to adapt.
“Black Summer” was released by Avatar Press a few years back with writer Warren Ellis and incredibly talented artist Juan Jose Ryp. It tells the the tale of a group of scientists that use their brain power to give themselves super powers. They form a team called Seven Guns in order to save their home town from dirty cops and criminals alike. A quality read for fans of Comic-Book-God Warren Ellis or just those that like their violence strong and colorful.
This news of Pearson adapting the story for the screen has me a little worries. Let’s be honest “Knowing” was not the best of the best by any means…. I suppose we will have to do what we always do when another title is sold into slavery to help feed the Hollywood machine…close our eyes, cross our fingers, and hope for the best.
I still spend most of my free time crying about the “Red Dawn” remake…
