Men: Do you ever question your sexuality? I have found a sure fired way to help you answer all your questions. The answer comes in the form of the film Bitchslap. This film is in another in the long line of films paying homage to the exploitation genres that found popularity in the seventies. Unlike films like Grindhouse that make a parody of the genre, this film actually embraces it’s membership in the category.

The film follows three beautiful and busty women who are searching for two million dollars in diamonds in the desert. With stripper names (Trixie, Hel, and Camero) and bodies to match, the film never pulls back from giving the male audience members what they want. Each woman brings a particular set of skills to the group, and even more secrets. The film is mostly flashbacks that help reveal how all of the characters have gotten to the point where the film begins. I won’t say too much, because the story is actually full of character reveals and mystery. However, the story actually isn’t all that bad. Between scenes of gratuitous body shots, rampant girl on girl sex, and well choreographed fight scenes the story holds up. The film also features cameos from Kevin Sorbo, and Lucy Lawless. The highlights of the film have to be the excessive action sequences. Probably the most impressive scene is the shoot out sequences at the Glory Hole Casino. People blowing up, nuclear weapons deals with a Middle Eastern terrorist, midget dancers with machine guns, and a shadowy underworld figure killing people with a katana all in one scene. In fact there really isn’t a slow moment in the whole film. From the first scene the movie tells you what you are going to get then shoves it down your throat for ninety minutes.

There are some turn offs in this film (not sexually of course). A lot of the flashbacks are shot against green screen with obviously terrible backgrounds added in later. The acting is often over the top, with characters delivering the odd puns that litter the script. The special effects are low quality at best. Finally the women and other characters in the film are some times offensively sterotypical. However I would like to remind everyone this is one of the staples of the exploitation genre films.
I doubt this film will ever find it’s way to a large number of viewers. In fact, it probably shouldn’t. This film will no doubt have more detractors than supporters. I would like to throw my full support behind this film. I love the fact that instead of making a parody, the film makers just made a good genre film. Like the films of old, this film makes no excuses for being a rampant sex fantasy, full of violence and profanity. It resembles a teenagers wet dream as much as a film. However I applaud the efforts of the film makers to create something they love. Damn what people have to say, this one is just for the fans of the genre.
