Your Geeky Valentine’s Day Guide!

With Consumerism day – er, I mean Valentine’s Day – just on the Horizon, I figured I would share some ideas for Valentine’s Day gifts for that special geek in your life.

Cards

Every year I end up just buying the Marvel Valentine’s made for little kids and giving them to all of my friends with mix CDs, but I’ve found some pretty rad images online for geeky V-day cards with a little more substance.

First, there’s Alexandria Neonakis’ Team Fortress 2 (and a couple of other video games) V-day cards. They were floating around the internet all the way back in 2008, but they are still totally amazing. Check out her website Nuts and Beavers for the full lineup.

For that special /b/tard in your life, check out this ADORABLE MUDKIP. I liek it. I liek it alot.

One of my favourite geeky pickup lines of all time is:
Roses are #FF0000 Violets are #0000FF All of my base are belong to you
Phyrbyrd over at DA has made a super awesome hand embroidered card with the infamous video game couple – The Pacmans!

Heading over to Etsy, I found this AWESOME Circuit Board Heart Card. It’s Laser Cut and totally cute.

GOTTA CATCH ‘EM ALL. Or maybe just YOUR heart.
Buy this card at Etsy here.

I must love you, as you converted me to Star Trek.
Check out the entirety of her Etsy store, as it’s pretty awesome and has all sorts of geeky cards.

Better Loving through Chemistry

Gifts

Before you go and drop alot of money on your significant other for Valentine’s Day, always consider first that homemade is usually the best and most personal route. You can never go wrong with a drawing, a mix CD, etc. Also flowers are traditional for a reason – you could put a cute little twist on them by putting geeky ornaments into them or something of the sort. That being said, onwards into the realm of geeky love!

LOVE in binary pinback buttons
What better way to tell someone you love them than in 1s and 0s? Especially helpful if you’re dating a robot.

Zelda Heart Life Earrings
A good way to say: “You fulfill my heart meter!”

Anatomical Human Heart Necklace
It’s much less creepy than giving your partner a vial of your blood to wear around their neck.

Giant Plush Microbes
Give your significant other an STD that makes them say “AWWW”, not “EWWW”.

LED Flashing Sweetheart Kit
Totally cute, and totally DIY! For your resident tech geek.

Weighted Companion Cube Plush
For squeezing when you’re not around.

His or Her own domain name
It’s like buying a star, except not as weird and pointless!

Hope this helped, and if you have no one special to share February 14th with, treat yourself to something nice, avoid places with couples so you’re not arrested for curb stomping them, and if all else fails take out some aggression by blowing up zombies on your video game of choice.
