Honey Basil Avocado Smoothie – Wicked Green

Today’s post is going to be short and sweet, I’ll be straight with ya, I’ve got vacation on the brain. This weekend I’ll be heading to the White Mountains in New Hampshire for a relaxing weekend of hiking, camping, and fishing. This has resulted in Friday where I’d much rather not be sitting at a computer. Alas I have made a comportment to blog M-F so I’ll share the recipe of a smoothie I whipped up this morning with ya’ll so you can make it yourselves and enjoy it as I did.

I love avocados, I usually eat two a week depending on how much they cost at the grocery store. I also love trying out different ways to use ingredients. Most of the time I will simply mash my avocado a bit  and add a little salt then have it with some eggs or over a salad. I’ve heard of people making smoothies with avocados and have read a few recipes to get the general idea of how they fit in to the smoothie, so I figured I’d give making one a shot this morning.

Honey Basil Avocado Smoothie

  • 1 ripe avocado
  • 1 TBSP honey
  • 1.5 Cups almond milk
  • 1 lime juiced
  • 5 leaves fresh basil

This is a very green smoothie, look at all this green stuff going in there! Prep your ingredients by cutting the avocado in half and removing the pit as well as cutting the lime in half. Otherwise all you’ve got to do today is measure and blend this fella.

I use and immersion blender so I simply tossed everything into a cup and gave it a good blend.  You’ll end up with a nice creamy green smoothie that’ll look something like this.

Once it’s done you can garnish it with another basil leaf if you want to impress people with your presentation skills. This smoothie like its name sake is very smooth. The avocado really adds some thickness and a nice flavor, lime and honey give just enough tart and sweet to the mix to make this a really enjoyable creation. Next time around I’d probably kick up the basil a little bit just so it has a little bit more of that nice basil flavor. But overall I was really pleased with how this turned out and to have another avocado use for my arsenal.

Wow only 400 words for this post, like I said, vacation brain. Hope everyone has a great long weekend. Depending on when I get home on Monday I’ll either have a post up that day or Battlemouth will take a vacation day and get back on track Tuesday with all sorts of camping themed posts!

Just made this and it was super easy and tasted great! I ended up adding about another half tablespoon of honey though to add more sweetness.
