Gamer Quest: The Video Game Monster

Gamer Quest: The Video Game Monster

When I started this series, I stated that my goal was to experience as many different types of games as I possibly could in an effort to become worthy of the title “gamer”. I’ve covered quite an array of different games thus far, with many more to come. However, it seems to me that, even though the [...]

Spoiler Alert: Street Fighter IV

Spoiler Alert: Street Fighter IV

The hype in a game like Street Fighter IV really has nothing to do with what people are saying.  It has to do with all the hype built up from years of an amazing franchise, and the expectations we set for ourselves from our previous experiences.  What we liked, what we didn’t like, and what [...]

League of Legends

League of Legends

Addiction – ad•dic•tion – [uh-dik-shuh n] – noun – the state of being enslaved to a habit or practice or to something that is psychologically or physically habit-forming, as narcotics, to such an extent that its cessation causes severe trauma. This is the definition of addiction, something League of Legends has become to me. As the [...]

OnLive: The Future of Video Games?

OnLive: The Future of Video Games?

A short while back, I stumbled across a picture of someone playing World of Warcraft on an iPad. In that same post was information on a service that might one day allow such a feat. The revolutionary service is called OnLive, and looks to be quite the groundbreaking release. OnLive’s bold mission statement claims that they will “change the way [...]

Rockstar Games Presents An Original Short Film Made from Red Dead Redemption

This Saturday night, May 29th at Midnight, we'll be able to see a 30 minute short film crafted entirely inside of the Red Dead Redemption video game. Created and directed by John Hillcoat (director of The Road and The Proposition), the film will follow John Marston as he tracks down his former fellow outlaw and friend, Bill Williamson. Along the way, Marston encounters many of Red Dead Redemption's eclectic cast of dreamers, misfits and liars.

Fist Full of Red Dead Redemption

First-Look-Red-Dead-Redemption

For all my random hobbies and interests, playing video games has to be at the top of my favorites list. Some people drink a beer when they come home from a rough day at work – I play video games (well okay, I have a beer AND some video games). A while back, circa 2002, [...]

The Ultimate Gaming Experience…

SMBC_Title

…That Will Make You Really Hard …And Die Happy It would be easy to say crossover video games are the greatest games ever.  Well, it would be easy to say that if they were.  Sadly, crossover games have never really pushed farther than crossing over a bunch of characters from other games into a whole new game [...]

Halo: Reach is Coming

Halo: Reach is Coming

Hello to all of you New Mombasa Citizens. Not since the release of Halo 2 have I been more excited for a Halo title. With all of the RPG influence being poured into the unlockable character customization in Halo: Reach, my nerd pants are moist to say the least. The multiplayer beta for Halo: Reach is [...]

Gamer Quest: My Journey To Become a TRUE Gamer.

Gamer Quest: My Journey To Become a TRUE Gamer.

The term “gamer’ is tossed about quite loosely these days. Not too long ago, I posted an article about being a “gamer” on my Facebook. A good friend of mine commented on the amount of video game enthusiasts that claim to be “gamers”, and suggested that statement was not only incorrect, but a little bit narrow-minded. It was not meant as an insult or a challenge, but as [...]

Ebert vs. Fanboys

Ebert vs. Fanboys

It all began harmlessly enough. Roger Ebert, one of the most famous and well-respected critics of all time, wrote a review on the movie Kick-Ass. Then all hell broke loose. The fanboys across the internet exploded in rage. Most of whom had not even seen the film, blasted Ebert and his lack of hipness. Ebert [...]

Mark & Execute: The New Splinter Cell

Splinter Cell: Conviction

Today, I set out and completed the recently released Ubisoft game Splinter Cell: Conviction. Like most Tom Clancy titles, the Splinter Cell series has been on a downslide recently. So, with huge fans and numerous titles in the bank, the men at Ubisoft set out to “reinvent” the series. I was definitely on board with the [...]
